Hello everyone,
As you might have seen on the chat there are some questions floating around to if this league is still a functioning league. There are a few active owners, semi-active owners and inactive owners to varying degrees. I know I enjoy the league and the owners that we have but if there isn't enough interest from everyone it becomes a little stale. I think we all understand that real life can take over fantasy sports and no one faults anyone for that. So what we are hoping to do with the post is determine who is committed to staying in the league and keeping a reasonable level of interest/activity.
Please post below if you in or out for next season.
On a side note, I know the commish has had rough year so Mike: are you still interested in being the commish?
I look forward to hearing from people either way.

I've had a lot of changes in my life the past 3-4 months (good changes) and haven't had time to be as active as I've been in the past. Something had to give. It's a lot of commitment to change lineups every single day and juggle rosters and prospects over here.
With that said, I've been in this league since the beginning, and I'd like to see it survive. If it does, you can count on me to be back.

I am undecided at this moment in time. I would like to say yes of course, but that is not really the case and I do not think my level of attention has been very fair to everyone else. SO I am going to think more. That is the best I can decide right now.

Mike (Boston) mentioned to me he was out for next year. He will transfer the commish stuff over before he goes.

I am away on vacation for a week starting Saturday so if everyone else is ok with it could we make some decisions after April 18?

Where we sit: -So by my count the only team we didn't hear from is Chicago. He was last online in February. If you are around Shawn, jump in soon. -Mike (Boston) is the only one indicating he would not be back. I would like to take a moment to thank Mike for his efforts in setting up and running this very cool league. You will be missed. -Mike started the process to transfer the admin of the pro-board to me. If anyone has any objections to that please feel free to voice them. -Norm (Tampa) is still a maybe. Norm: do you have any further thoughts?
Future: So we are between 1 and 3 owners short. New owners? Contraction? Other thoughts?
I will also add my own feeling that at times last year I was frustrated by the lack of response/activity by some. I don't think anyone expects everyone to make 10 moves a day and respond instantly to all messages and we all know that life can get in the way but I hope that if we do want to continue as a group we get some commitment to active participation.

I will do my best to be more active. I just underwent a very, very busy time in my live with a major job change in January, and it was very hard to keep up with daily lineup changes.
I'll just throw this out there- has anyone considered moving the league from ESPN to Fantrax, which would allow us to have our minor league rosters there, and also track cap information and salaries all on the same site? I don't know if we could keep the same scoring setup, but it's just a suggesion. I think one of the things that is so time consuming about this league is the expectation that is we make a roster move on ESPN, we are expected to have an updated roster and cap over here within 24 hours, and that means editing a post and adding up cap numbers again.

I would second Tina's suggestion about Fantrax, I think it would go a long way to simplify the management of our teams. However, we would have to investigate how much work it would be for the Commish to maintain our current salaries, or otherwise we may have to default to actual NHL salsries - which would have a huge impact on our rosters. I don't see a slight modification on scoring structure (if required)to be a hindrance. Another consideration would be the Fantrax Premium fee of $80 per season. We would require the premium service to run our league as close to possible to our existing rules. There would have to be agreement for everyone to pay their share of the fee (less than $10, depends on number of participants). Finally, changing over to the Fantrax site could be an opportunity to refresh the League and explore the idea of expansion back to 14 or 16 teams.

Hey everyone,
So I feel like I am going to continue on. I never really wanted to leave, but didn't think it was fair. This year is done and I will be more active and such as in years gone by. Mike you will be missed, thanks for everything. My vote is to make Tom the new League commish. I can continue my role as well, if everyone is fine.
Are we going to find someone to fill Boston? or have it league managed? I guess wait to see if anyone else is leaving.

Fantrax sounds good to me - streamlining this league I think is essential moving forward.

Two issues.
League Members: With Norm coming back we are two owners short. I think it would be good to find two owners but probably fair to first offer if anyone currently in the league wants to switch their team with on of the available ones. First question: does anyone want to claim either Boston or Chicago (first come, first serve)? Second question: Does anyone have anyone interested in being a GM in this league?
Fantrax/Streamlining: I haven't used Fantrax before but understand it is highly regarded for complicated leagues. Can someone who knows the service investigate if it can handle all of our league settings/contracts/etc?

I am working on loading our league into Fantrax to see if it would work. I have the rosters pretty much loaded but I haven't loaded in our salaries. If we were to use actual NHL cap hits going forward there would be a couple of teams grossly over the cap. So I will load our salaries in and see if I can figure out how to enter the contracts. You can have a look: www.fantrax.com/fantasy/home.go?leagueId=m3igkf8yinoyodofI am not sure if you have to be registered with Fantrax to see it. I will throw out a suggestion: instead of simply looking to replace the two owners, why dont we look for four (or more) owners. Both current teams would have their teams released to free agency and we can have an expansion draft with all the players in the FA pool. If we were fortunate to have interest to get back to 16 teams then I would suggest having teams protect a specified number of players (actual numbers or format for protection could be discussed)and have the rest of the players available to the expansion draft. We have a great league, but if the number of owners gets too small the teams get too strong and that limits moves that need to be made (and the interest level) in the league. Also, if any team wants to start over, they could release their team and enter the expansion draft. is this worth exploring??

I don't think we can view the league if we aren't members in it.
I am open to four owner if we can find them but I think it is hard enough to find 2 owners.
